We have spent a good amount of time designing our functional canards for the Astra Vxr, so not only do they look great, but they are also a functional part.
Fitting instructions
Fitting is straightforward, using 3 torx head screws on each side.
Simply offer the canard up to the bumper, it will be obvious where it should sit as the inner edge will sit flush to the bumper, but as a guide, follow the top of the fog light recess. The front of the canard should sit flat, not pointing up or down. The rear of the canard should point up towards the body line in the wing.
Using a marker pen directly to the bumper, or onto masking tape, mark the 3 holes positions.
Set the canard to one side, and grab a drill with a 2mm drill bit. The Torx screws are 4.2mm so this should give them a good pilot hole while ensuring they bite nicely into the bumper. Drill your 3 holes and then remove any masking tape that you have applied. Ensure the surface is clean prior to fitting.
Offer up your canard once again. Your pilot holes that you have drilled should line up with the centre of the holes on the canard's tabs. We say it's usually easier to start with the middle screw first.
When screwing into the bumper, make 2 full turns clockwise followed by 1 full turn anti-clockwise. This will allow the screw to cut into the bumper without potentially pulling through and making the hole too large. Screw each screw in until they are almost tight. Do not tighten up the screws until all 3 are in. Then you can go along and tighten each one up, pulling the canard perfectly flush with the bumper.
It is important to not over tighten the screws as you run the risk of pulling through the bumper.
