The duct unit is designed to replace the factory fog light (excluding the BTCC kit cars). They may also fit other VAG cars of a similar year, but we have yet to confirm this.
The benefit of replacing your fog light with a duct is that you create a pair of effective openings which can be utilised to cool areas severely affected by heat. The most effective area for cooling is your brakes. Longevity of effective braking is what will make you fast both on the road and track. This kit is degined to duct a large amoung of air towards the inside of your wheel, thus effectively cooling your brakes.
Installation of this kit is fairly complex and requres some small cutting in order to fit the ducting. It can be done with some basic tools, but allow 2/3 hours to be on the safe side. The passenger side is very simple, taking 15/20 minutes, but the drivers side s extremely tight and requires some finess as the washer fluid bottle sits right behind the fog light, making is very tight to locate the ducting to the wheel arch.
Tools Required
- 13mm socket
- 7mm socket

- Torx set
- Philips screwdriver
Written Instructions
To begin the installation of the kit, we will first knock out the passenger side as it is very simple and will give you an idea of what is needed for the more diffecult drivers side.
- Remove both fog light surrounds / trims. These have 1 screw holding each one in place, as well as some clips. Be careful not to snap any clips when rremoving them trim.
- Remove both fog lights. They are held in with 3 torx screws that are very simple to undo. Once the fog light is loose, unclip the plug from the back and put theem to one side. (please note - you will get a light on the dash saying that your fog lights are now unavailable)
- Jack the passenger side of the car up and remove the wheel. You will see that there is an opening at the back of the wheel arch liner. We are going to use this as a reference point where to cut our 80mm hole. Cut the hole just to the left of this opening, so your new hole over laps with the current hole.
- Feed the ducting through this hole and out of the recess where the fog light was. Attach your end cap inside the arch and push ducting through until the end cap is flush with the arch liner.
- Attach your SM fog delete duct to the other end of the ducting, fasten and then fix your fog duct in place using the OEM pointing points and torx screws that helf the fog light in place. You can then reattach this sides fog surround.
