Our SprogTech STX F4R Enclosed Intake kit has been designed specifically for the Clio RS197 and RS200 2.0 16v. The airbox is completely unique to the STX F4R kit, making the best use of the space available. A great effort and attention to detail has gone into every aspect of this kit, to ensure it performs as intended, even in extreme environments on the race track.

 

As we have developed enclosed intake kits for various cars over the years, we have found that on revvy naturally-aspirated cars such as the Clios, intake air temperatures can be as important, if not more important, than improving airflow and restrictions. In the case of the Clio, this is partially important, as the airbox is situated at the back of the engine, right next to the exhaust manifold. Because of this, you will see owners often report no gain, or even a loss in power, when changing from the factory airbox with a good panel filter, to an open air filter or 'heat shield' kit, which from our experience, does next to nothing.

 

For the STX F4R kit, we have worked with the space available to design a high-flowing enclosed airbox, that works around the factory battery position. As with our other airbox products, how the air leaves the airbox is very important, and can have a pretty significant impact on performance and torque. The Ramair foam air filter is mounted to our integral velocity stack profile that we use across our airbox range. Air passing through the air filter is smoothly compressed into our throttle body pipe. 

 

The F4R kit sees a first for our SprogTech range! Instead of using typical silicone pipes, we have designed our own solid pipe, using V bands to connect to the airbox. This in turn, creates a perfectly smooth join that will not disrupt the airflow the velocity stack has created. The smooth profile is carried all the way to the throttle body, with no ridges or lips.

 

Air is drawn into the kit via the factory intake position, situated at the front of the car. This way we can ensure that only cool air is entering the airbox, even when engine bay temperatures are high. We have opted for a motorsport grade silicone-based flexible ducting to get this cool air to the airbox at the back of the engine bay. Although this may not be the most beautiful solution, it is very functional and cost-effective. 

 

A mounting pin at the back of the airbox utilises a factory rubber mount, to help keep the airbox securely in place in addition to the V band clamp on the throttle body pipe.

 

Our STX F4R kit can come in 2 materials; Fibre reinforced ABS plastic or Carbon Composite. While the ABS plastic is perfectly up to the job for the majority of applications, the Carbon will be the choice for those who regularly track or race their car. In addition to the carbon being very very strong, it can also reflect temperatures up to 200*C, around 110 more than the ABS plastic. Heat soak is simply not an issue.

 

MADE IN THE UK

 

We pride ourselves on being completely self-sufficient when it comes to our products. The SprogTech STX F4R is designed and manufactured entirely in-house, by us in the UK. Apart from the Ramair Proram filter element, no part of the STX F4R is made elsewhere, or bought in.
